The Arcane Dragonry

The mirror of the soul

What is the first thing that your human mind imagines when you hear the word “dragon”? I’m curious… knowing that the existence of dragons is known to humans, even if the vast majority of humans have never seen any. So I wonder, do you share my views? To me it’s quite obvious that the most iconic part of a dragon is their eyes. They can tell so much about an individual’s characteristics, personality, mood and even intentions. Some of us can read each others’ minds if we’re tuned in and we’re looking into each other’s eyes. Different as our eyes may be (even among the same kin), all of us have dramatic, unique and very, very intense eyes (more so than humans, in my opinion).

This is why when I finally decided which dragons to honour with a trophy, I decided to begin by creating their eyes. I tried to be as faithful as possible, and even though it took me a while to tweak them until I was satisfied, I know it won’t do them justice. But that’s OK, right? If there was a way to reproduce real dragon eyes, they wouldn’t be so special anymore.

So I printed them on paper, then glued them to a glass dome and let it dry. You have to push the dome hard against the paper to avoid leaving air bubbles that would ruin the look once dried.IMG-20151107-00216I printed a bunch more just to experiment with.

An old steel dragon hailing from another plane. She's been living among humans for a while now, learning about them and using her artistic talent to make recreations of relevant draconic figures from her homeland. Her aim is to teach humans about her kin and learn about them in return.
